Meet Cesar Escalante And Read Why He Supports Jumoke Hinton Hodge

Vote for Jumoke Hinton Hodge on Nov. 8 in the Oakland school board District 3 race

I am a parent to kindergarten and 5th grader in Oakland Unified School District, and I support Jumoke Hinton Hodge for re-election in the District 3 race because she focused on our students and their needs.

My name is Cesar Escalante and I work as a community organizer in West Oakland. I first met Jumoke Hinton Hodge in 2010 at a West Oakland Parent Action Network meeting where I presented to a group about McClymonds High School. Jumoke later helped me get a job teaching families how to eat healthy. The families taking the class were facing health challenges at the time and Jumoke was a leader in the food justice work.

Jumoke has always been an advocate for social justice. She is always focused on our students of color and believes in them and supports them so they can reach their dreams. Jumoke lives in West Oakland, is part of the community, and she knows our pain and struggles. I believe that people who are part of the pain should be part of the solution.

“Jumoke is focused on the needs of students of color and believes in supporting students in the flatlands. She lives in West Oakland, she is part of the community, she knows our pain and struggles. I believe that people who are part of the pain should be part of the solution.”

We need people with experience who know how to navigate OUSD. I know Jumoke has the experience and can bring more results in a short period of time. We can’t wait, our community is is long overdue. I believe Jumoke is the right person to continue the progress we have made for our students. She will bring better and faster results for our community. Join me in supporting Jumoke Hinton Hodge for the Oakland school board District 3 race.
